Cascade SIGGRAPH Presents How to Get a Job in Computer GraphicsIndustry Experts Offer Insight on What Employers Look for in Resumes and Demo Reels (March 10, 2006)
Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH, Oregon and Southwest Washingtons local SIGGRAPH chapter, today announced it is hosting an event on ?How to Get a Job in Computer Graphics. Scheduled to take place Monday, March 20, at 6 p.m. at the PCC Cascade Campus Auditorium, Moriarty Arts & Humanities Building, located at 705 N. Killingsworth (cross street Albina) in Portland, Ore., ?How to Get a Job in Computer Graphics offers insight from industry experts from LAIKA and the Art Institute of Portland on what employers look for while reviewing resumes and demo reels. Highlights of the evening include presentations from industry experts, a panel discussion comparing and contrasting different perspectives, and a question and answer period.
Scheduled event speakers include: Patrick Van Pelt of LAIKA, Barry Wall of the Art Institute of Portland and others.
Location and Registration
The Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH ?How to Get a Job in Computer Graphics will take place Monday, March 20, starting at 6 p.m. at the PCC Campus Auditorium, Moriarty Arts & Humanities Building, located at 705 N. Killingsworth (cross street Albina), in Portland, Ore. For directions, visit: www.pcc.edu/about/locations/cascade/. Free parking passes are available to those who RSVP and request a pass by March 16, 2006. The night will commence with a meet and greet in the lobby on the ground floor at 6 p.m., followed by a brief presentation from each speaker, and end with a question and answer period.
This and other Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH meetings are free to Cascade SIGGRAPH Chapter members. Nonmembers will need to pay a $5.00 admission fee at the door. Annual local memberships can be purchased at the door for $25.00 ($18.00 for students), with cash or check. Sorry, no credit cards accepted. Food will be available to attendees. The Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH Chapter exists to serve the needs of the Oregon and Southwest Washington computer graphics industry and students. Through meetings, workshops, conferences, and other activities, the Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH Chapter works to promote an increased knowledge of and greater interest in the educational, artistic, and scientific aspects and applications of modern technology to graphics, enhancing communication between persons in Oregon and Southwest Washington that have an interest in any aspect of computer graphics.
