Card Gnome to Give 10,000 Free Greeting Cards to Military Through Cards and Heroes Holiday Program

Military Can Send Personalized Artist-Designed Cards Home to Loved Ones for Free (November 21, 2011)

BOULDER, CO -- (Marketwire) -- 11/21/11 -- Card Gnome, an online greeting card store featuring designs by independent artists, has created Cards and Heroes, a holiday program that will give 10,000 free greeting cards to military members throughout this holiday season. The program provides an easy way for deployed service members to send personalized cards to loved ones if they cannot be home for the holidays. Card Gnome also wants to give its customers an opportunity to show their appreciation to our military by sending holiday cards through the American Red Cross "Holiday Mail for Heroes" campaign.

"Sharing the holidays with family and friends makes this time of year special in so many ways. But it can be a difficult time for our military and their families who are separated by great distances," said Chad McGimpsey, President and Co-Founder of Card Gnome. "To help bridge that distance and give our thanks, we created Cards and Heroes. We're giving free holiday greeting cards to members of the military to send home to their loved ones, and we've also made it simple for our customers to send their thanks to the military as well."

Through the Cards and Heroes program, service members can personalize one free greeting card to send to their loved ones completely free. Postage is included, and the sender can even choose the day they would like the card sent. While a card can't replace having our service men and women home during the holidays, it can be a powerful way for our service members to connect with their loved ones from so far away. A valid email address ending in .mil is needed to qualify for this offer. The first 10,000 service members who register will receive a free card during checkout.

Card Gnome is also giving customers the ability to send their appreciation to service members and veterans this holiday season by making it easy to participate in the American Red Cross "Holiday Mail for Heroes" campaign. After finding the perfect card and adding a personal message, choose "Send to a hero" in the delivery options and the card will be sent to the Red Cross, who will deliver the card to a veteran or active service member. All cards on the website are eligible for the program and are $4.99 including shipping.
