Police: Elderly driver loses control of car, crashes into Pa. thrift store and hits 2 toddlers By The Associated Press

MAXATAWNY, Pa. (AP) ' Police in eastern Pennsylvania say an elderly driver has lost control of her car, crashed through the front of a thrift store and run over two toddlers.

The girls were rushed to a hospital near Allentown.

Their grandfather Rick Geist tells the Reading Eagle newspaper one of them was trapped under the car and was freed by bystanders in the store. He says they will recover.

Berks-Lehigh regional police say the accident happened Monday at the Once Again Thrift Store in Maxatawny, a township of about 6,000 residents.

Police say the 84-year-old motorist drove over a concrete barrier and into the plate-glass window of the store. She apparently was unhurt and refused medical treatment.
