Canto Announces Cumulus 6

Mac OS X client to be offered for first time By Dave Nagel
Canto has announced Cumulus 6, an update to the company's asset management system that includes performance improvements, workflow improvements and a new Mac OS X client. The new versions of the Enterprise and Workgroup editions of Cumulus 6 are expected to be available by the end of November for Mac OS X, Windows, Linux and Solaris.

Cumulus is a server-based asset management system targeted toward professional graphics users. The new version includes additional administrative features, central user management an embedded Java plugin technology that allows for customization. Other new features include:

  • Asset management and access in one window;
  • Keyword list display option;
  • New "Quicksearch" functionality;
  • Simplified menu structure;
  • Various performance improvements.

In addition, for the first time, Cumulus will include a client for Mac OS X. The new versions of Cumulus Enterprise and Workgroup will be available by the end of November. The server runs on Mac OS X, Windows, Linux and Solaris. Clients support Mac OS X and Windows. Pricing has not yet been announced. For more information, visit
