Canopus Ships DV Converter

ADVC-50 brings analog to FireWire By Dave Nagel
Canopus has started shipping the new ADVC-50, a device for converting analog video to DV. Canopus says the card works with Macintosh and Windows systems, since it can operate as a standalone device. It can be installed as a PCI card or into a drive bay, with both external and internal FireWire ports.

The ADVC-50 features Canopus's DV codec technology and supports locked audio for synchronization. It can be powered from the PCI bus or the internal 4-pin power plug. For output, the ADVC-50 provides a 4-pin FireWire connecter on the back panel and a 6-pin internal FireWire connector. For input, the device offers S-video and composite, as well as stereo RCA jacks.

The ADVC-50 is available now for $199. For more information, visit http://www.canopuscorp.com.
