Canopus Announces EDIUS SD Workstation At IBC

SD editing solution features EDIUS Pro and is easily upgradeable to HD (September 09, 2004)

Canopus Corporation, a leader in video production and editing tools, today announced EDIUS SD, a professional, realtime online content creation workstation targeting post production and broadcast studios and features a direct upgrade path to EDIUS HD, Canopus's nonlinear high-definition editing platform. Designed for maximum performance, the EDIUS SD workstation provides unrivaled realtime editing and content creation capabilities with connectivity to integrate into existing post-production or broadcast studio environments.

A flexible hardware design makes EDIUS SD ideal for studios currently using standard definition video equipment but want the option to upgrade to broadcast-quality HD. EDIUS SD includes EDIUS Pro editing software for realtime mixed editing of uncompressed SD, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, DVCPRO50 and HDV format, an RS-422 connector to provide accurate VTR control, an SDI input connector, two SDI output connectors and a reference input connector to provide unrivaled realtime performance and standard connectivity options.

For studios requiring additional connectivity, Canopus is offering the multi-I/O processing unit for EDIUS SD. This high-quality, 3U rackmountable unit contains a plethora of video connections, including SD-SDI with embedded audio, eight-channel AES/EBU, RS-422A I/O, SD reference in, sync generator, embedded TC, LTC in/out, four-channel balanced audio, and analog component video out (BNC and D-connector).

For maximum return on investment, EDIUS SD and its multi-I/O processing unit are upgradeable to EDIUS HD, which features the groundbreaking Canopus HD and HQ software codec technologies, the heart of EDIUS HD. With EDIUS HD, EDIUS Pro provides mixed realtime, multi-track HD/SD editing, compositing, chroma keying, titling and timeline output.
