Canon Intros New Optura DV Cameras

Optura models also offer still image capabilities By Dave Nagel
Canon today announced two new models in its line of Optura camcorders. The new models, the Optura 20 and the Optura 10, are DV cameras that also include still image capture capabilities. The Optura 20 will be available next month, with the Optura 10 following in May.

The new Opturas feature a 16x optical zoom, 1.33 megapixel CCD, selectable focus points, panorama capabilities, direct printing to Canon's BubbleJet printers and the ability to shoot video and still images simultaneously. The Optura 20 offers a few features over the Optura 10, including a larger, 3.5-inch LCD viewfinder, Super Night Mode, Light Plus Mode, a front-mounted assist lamp and a higher-capacity battery.

The cameras can capture still images at 1,280 x 960 pixels, which are stored on the cameras' MultiMediaCard/SD Memory Cards. Photo features include programmed auto exposure, selectable AF frames, auto exposure bracketing, continuous shooting modes, stitch assist for panoramas, Exif print and an accessory shoe.

The Optura 20 will be available next month for $999. The Optura 10 will ship in May for $899. For more information, visit
