Canon Debuts Optura 2000MCDV camcorder includes 1.3 megapixel CCD
The 200MC combines video and still image capture and includes some features found on regular still cameras, such as support for Secure Digital and MultiMedia Card capture and direct printing with certain Canon printers. For still images, users can also perform a limited number of edits without a computer, such as cropping. It also supports Exif 2.2.
The camcorder itself includes a 10x optical zoom lens and 20x digital zoom (for 200x total) and incorporates a manual focus ring. It includes USB and FireWire ports, a microphone terminal, built-in speaker and small, white LED for lighting subjects in darkness (using the Super Night Mode feature).
Manual controls on the camera include focus, exposure lock, white balance and shutter speed control. The Auto Exposure (AE) Shift feature lets the user select how light or dark the camcorder sets the automatic exposure level. It also includes fully automatic presets for a variety of shooting situations, such as Sports, Portrait, Spotlight, Sand & Snow, Low Light, Night and "Super Night."
Other features include:
- Special effects, including Art, Black & White, Sepia, Mosaic, Ball, Cube, Wave, Color Mask or Mirror. Fade effects, which create unique scene transitions, include Wipe, Corner, Jump, Flip, Puzzle, Zig Zag, Beam, Tide, Fade Trigger and standard Black.
- Stitch Assist for creating 360-degree panoramic still images.
- Multi-Angle Hand Grip.
- A/V terminals for passing through analog video signals or capturing them to tape.
- Photo Search/Date Search.
- Time Code/Data Code.
- 16:9 Wide Screen Mode.
- Self Timer.
The Optura 200MC kit also includes a software suite for image management and editing, such as ZoomBrowser EX (Windows) and ImageBrowser (Mac); Photo Record; Photo Stitch; and ArcSoft Photo Impression and Video Impression.
The kit also includes a Battery pack BP-512, CA-560 Compact Power Adapter, WL-D78 Wireless Controller, S-150- S-Video Cable, STV-250N Stereo Video Cable, USB Cable and SDC-8M SD Memory Card. It sells for $1,699. For more information, visit http://www.canon.com.
