Calendar: SMPTE 2002 Cinematography SeminarsHalf-day series during 144th SMPTE Conference, Oct. 26
Sessions at the afternoon-long seminar series include:
- 1 p.m.: Live Internet chat with Bill Butler, recipient of the latest ASC Lifetime Achievement Award.
- 2 p.m.: Focus on aesthetic decisions and how they affect film and digital media production. Panelists include: Russ Alsobrook, Rodney Charters, Richard Crudo, Tom Del Ruth, Stephen Lighthill and Roy Wagner.
- 3:30 p.m.: Focus on how the trend toward digital film mastering is extending the role of the cinematographer into postproduction. Panelists include: Thomas Ackerman, Allen Daviau, Roger Deakins, John Hora and Alar Kivilo.
- 5 p.m.: Open forum: "Truth or Myth?" Questions and answers about how technology influences the art of filmmaking.
