CMS Ships Portable Backup System

Printer supports directing printing to CD and DVD media By Dave Nagel
CMS Peripherals has shipped a new version of its ABSplus, a backup storage system for Macintosh. The new version is a portable unit with an 80 GB capacity. It's available now.

ABSplus is a FireWire-based automated backup and recovery system, a fully integrated hardware and software combination for automatic backup and restoration on the Macintosh. It's shock-mounted for portability, and it's bootable with a single keystroke on Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X. It also offers Automatic Launcher technology for automatically sensing when the device is connected and backing up the system. Incremental backups are triggered by plugging in the ABSplus portable device and on power-up or with a scheduled trigger.

The ABSplus 80 GB model is available now for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X for $549. For more information, visit
