CMS Ships New ABSplus

Backup system supports Mac OS X 10.2 By Dave Nagel
CMS Peripherals has shipped a new version of ABSplus, an automatic storage backup system. The new release now includes integrated scheduling and "One Button Restore" and is available for Mac OS X 10.2.

ABSplus is a system that allows users to back up data automatically and restore with a click of a button. The new scheduling feature allows users to back up sets of specific files at specific times or schedule complete unattended backups, according to CMS. The new "One Button Restore" feature provides access to a range of restore options, including the ability to restore data to a destination different location.

The system comprises hardware and software and can be used as a boot volume in Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X. In Mac OS 9, users can select ABSplus as a boot volume through the Startup Disk Control Panel. In Mac OS X 10.2, it can be activated as a boot volume on the fly. The system's Automatic Launcher feature allows it to start backing up automatically when the device is connected.

ABSplus is available in portable FireWire or USB configurations in capacities of 20 GB, 30 GB, 40 GB and 60 GB Prices start at $299. The ABSplus for Desktops is available for the Macintosh in capacities of 80 GB, 120 GB, 200 GB and 250 GB starting at $349. For more information, visit
