C4-Sports to Host Sports Media and Technology ConferenceConference to focus on sports production facility management, content creation, and next-generation media distribution method (March 06, 2006)
C4-Sports, the first electronic media trade show dedicated wholly to sports technology, will feature an innovative Sports Media and Technology Conference presented by Future Media Concepts (FMC) and sponsored by Avid Technology on July 18 and 19 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. C4-Sports will focus on the critical components of sports technology, and the extensive FMC conference will feature cutting-edge technical sessions and panel discussions designed to allow sports media production professionals to share and learn techniques specific to the sports television production environment.
The keynote address will be delivered on the first day of the Sports Media and Technology Conference by Ken Adelson, NBA Entertainments senior vice president of production operations and planning. Adelson serves a key role in NBA Entertainments push into digital media in production, distribution, and archiving. He will discuss the challenges of managing, storing, sharing, and delivering sports media ? part of a joint venture with SGI.
The Sports Media and Technology Conference will include two full days of training, made up of three simultaneous tracks on the topics of facility management, creative content creation, and next-generation distribution. It will also feature case study presentations by industry leaders and experts.
The first track is geared to individuals charged with the smooth running of a sports facility, and related sessions will educate and inform on leading industry practices, as well as current and future technological trends in hardware and software. Sessions in the facility management track will include ?Post-Production and Live Delivery of HD On-Air as Used in NASCAR, Monday Night Football, the Super Bowl, and the World Series, ?Choosing an HD Camera Package for Sports Photography, ?Crossing the Streams: Mixing HD Formats and Cameras, and ?Advanced Workflow and Media Management.
On the subject of content creation, the second track will focus on innovative techniques and approaches to catch the audiences attention and enhance brand awareness. This track includes sessions such as ?Automating Broadcast Graphics With Adobe Photoshop, ?Shooting and Posting HD Sports Video as Used for MLB, NFL Films, and HBO Sports, and ?HD Post-Production Primer.
The next-generation distribution track will educate those responsible for getting sports content distributed to fans and customers on the latest media distribution methods and technologies. Sessions in this track include ?HD on Disc: Demystifying Next-Generation DVDs, ?Advanced Podcast Production Techniques, ?Get the Most From Flash Video, and ?On the Go: Delivering Sports to Mobile Devices.
Presenters and panelists in the conference will include certified trainers such as Richard Harrington, Gary Adcock, Art Phillips, and Bruce Nazarian; industry power users including Tom Fletcher, Dan Friedman, and Scott Sheppard; and key executives from major leagues and sports networks.
C4-Sports will also feature an on-floor theater that will serve the content production audience with valuable ?how to tips. Four sessions will be presented on the first day of the conference and then repeated on the second day in different time slots. Those sessions are: ?Avid Speed Tips, ?Final Cut Pro Speed Tips, ?Photoshop for Video Tips, and ?After Effects Titling Tips. Sessions will be presented by Avid, Apple, and Adobe Certified Instructors including Jeff Greenberg, Chris Phrommayon, and Rich Harrington.
