Broader Horizons For Renamed Lussier

Expanded team opens new creative options (June 15, 2004)

A new name and an expanded creative team have repositioned Lussier as a first tier option for on-air promo and theatrical marketing production. Coming off an exclusive seven -year pact with ABC TV, company president Lynne Lussier brought vp/creative director Richard Basis and producer Rita Rokisky on board to service a wider client base.

?We continue to produce on-air campaigns and special projects for the ABC marketing team, Lussier said, ?but we wanted to grow the company and apply our skills to theatrical trailers, program content, live production and home entertainment projects as well. By adding established experts in those fields we immediately began to attract a wider variety of assignments.

Lussiers strengths were illustrated last month when Daily Variety reported the overnights for 10.5, NBCs movie blockbuster drew ?the highest 18-49 score for any night of a multipart movie since ABCs Rose Red, in Jan., 2002. Not coincidentally, Lussier created the on-air promos for both network hits. In fact, Lussier produced on-air promos for 3 of the 5 top-rated movies on television for the entire season and has had at least 3 of the top 10 made-fors for the last four years running.

The companys on-going relationship with ABC is best illustrated by network sr. vps of On Air Promotion Mike Benson and Marla Provencio hiring them to produce the annual State Of Our Art presentation, which the co-marketing heads are giving at the upcoming PROMAX&BDA Conference (June 23-25). ?This presentation is designed to serve as a gauge of how robust and creative our industry is, both here in the US and internationally, Lussier says. ?It also represents an important showcase for our work. Were extremely pleased that ABC enlisted our support.

?Historically, State Of Our Art has been our closing event, reveals PROMAX&BDA CEO Jim Chabin.?It is one of our most popular sessions. Because the show has been totally revamped this year, we wanted Day One to be a standout. Barbara Walters will be our keynote speaker, and we anticipate exceptionally high interest in this production.

Beyond their established client base of network and syndicated series launches, episodic promos and Upfront, Affiliate and Press presentations Lussier is now creating marketing campaigns for motion pictures. Their maiden assignment: Buena Vistas Kate Hudson starrer Raising Helen.

A specialist in theatrical trailer production, Richard Basis served as creative director for CMP and VP for Creative Domain. His credits range from Disneys Beauty And The Beast to Father Of The Bride, Bram Stokers Dracula, A Few Good Men and A River Runs Through It. He also developed and headed the TV Promo Division for Aspect Ratio, a leading trailer house where he helped launch the FOX mega hit, 24. Basis was a staff writer/producer for NBC and director of On-Air Promotion at CBS. He launched such hit series as CBSs Northern Exposure; ABCs The Practice and NBCs The West Wing.

Rita Rokisky recently signed on to lead Lussiers live-action production division. Rokisky has produced feature films for Columbia TriStar and Stratosphere Entertainment. She served as WB director of production for On-Air Promotion and produced numerous on-air promo campaigns for NBC, Telepictures, CBS and UPN. Since joining Lussier she has produced projects for ABC including Holiday Image Campaigns, a one-hour prime time special for Mickeys 75th Birthday and FOXs Billboard Awards hosted by Ryan Seacrest.

A Lussier partner since 1998, Chris Stonich is a former post-production supervisor for NBC Productions. He has directed program content for The Grudge Match; music videos, pilots and specials for such clients as: Vin DeBona, Genesis Entertainment, The Learning Channel and Sonys Game Show Network. He has also directed numerous live-action promos for NBC,ABC, FOX, Universal and Buena Vista Television. His career highlights at Lussier include multiple PROMAX awards for launch campaigns for ABCs Alias and the Oprah Winfrey Presents franchise.

Recently named Lussier VP, creative director Tim Gray joined the company in 1998 following a successful career as an independent filmmaker. He has produced and directed countless live-action promos for such hit programs as: Everybody Loves Raymond, Jerry Springer and The Rosie ODonnel Show.

Lynne Lussier began her career as a promotion director for CBS in LA, and later served as NBC Director of Special Projects. She founded Lussier Productions in 1996 after racking up such freelance credits as the launch of Access Hollywood and the off-net premiere of Home Improvement.

?The industry has changed dramatically over the past five years, Lussier concludes. ?Creativity, flexibility, dependability and affordability need to be the cornerstones of any creative company that plans to survive in this new climate. We have built a talented and committed team, and are now positioned to offer the full range of creative services from on-air promos to movie marketing, and home entertainment to production.
