Britain's National Underground Assets Group (NUAG) Selects Envista for National Records Service London Project

Ensures More Effective Planning and Safer Execution of Street Projects for Workers and the Public (December 12, 2011)

BEVERLY, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/12/11 -- Envista Corporation, the world's leading provider of enterprise right-of-way (ROW) coordination solutions via the web, today announced that Great Britain's National Underground Assets Group (NUAG NRS Ltd) has selected Envista as the vendor of choice for the Group's National Records Service (NRS) London Project. The first stage of a Great Britain-wide implementation, the London Project leverages the Envista Enterprise ROW Coordination Platform to provide stakeholders, such as utilities and highway authorities, with real-time access to information on buried assets, such as water mains, gas pipes and cables. NUAG anticipates that the Envista platform will help its National Records Service enable more effective planning and safer execution of street works.

The London Project is sponsored by Thames Water (via UKWIR), National Grid Gas, UK Power Networks, Southern Gas Networks and Transport for London (TfL). These organizations, along with project supporters British Telecom Openreach, the City of London and the Department for Transport (DfT), will constitute the Project's Customer Advisory Group to ensure delivery of the Project and provide the "National Centre of Excellence" to improve national standards for recording and exchanging asset records data.

Commenting on the selection of Envista, Les Guest of NUAG NRS Ltd said, "Since the original formation of NUAG in 2005, we have worked extensively with all stakeholders in the industry to understand and define the requirements for an asset records exchange service. Achieving a common understanding amongst the various utilities and highways engaged in works where the pipes, cables and other equipment are buried is essential not only to ensure the safety of workers, but also the general public. Through a rigorous evaluation process we selected Envista as the most suitable technology partner capable of meeting our criteria for this critical information service. Our partnership with Envista allows us to leverage their industry proven cloud-based Coordination Platform to deliver the NRS service. The NRS service will enable all who engage in street works to plan their projects more efficiently, resulting in less disruption and inconvenience to road users and the community."

Mark Prestipino, Envista's CEO, added, "We are very excited to be partnering with NUAG in providing our coordination platform to enable the exchange of asset records through a common web environment, enabling the information management capabilities needed for the London Project. Such an ambitious effort is sure to yield valuable savings in time and money for all the stakeholders, while improving the safety and satisfaction of the general public. With multiple utilities and authorities participating and sharing project and asset information, NUAG is maximizing everyone's ability to improve planning and communication while significantly reducing costs and environmental impact of street works in the London area."

Launching the Project at City Hall, London, Garrett Emmerson, TfL's Chief Operating Officer for London Streets, welcomed NUAG's initiative, "Transport for London is pleased to launch NUAG's NRS London Project and believes that this technology will do much to improve coordination between utilities and local authorities, and reduce the disruption from street works. TfL continues to look for new ways to better manage the amount of road works in the capital and considers NUAG's service another positive step."
