Bright Launches Three New BrightDrive Shared Media Products for High Performance, Data-Intensive Workflows at IBC 2006

Bright Systems, Inc., a leading developer of file server and infrastructure technology for the post production industry, is launching three new additions to its BrightDrive family of shared media systems at IBC 2006 (Booth 12.104). The new products, LAN Accelerator, GigE Expander and an updated range of BrightDrive DiskPacks, are designed to dramatically increase media sharing performance in highly challenging data-intensive DI and post applications.

The BrightDrive LAN Accelerator delivers significantly accelerated IOPS system performance to the most demanding LAN media sharing workflows, for example, render farms and 2D and 3D visual effects. LAN Accelerator greatly increases the transaction capability of the BrightDrive media sharing server. A total of 8 LAN Accelerators can be configured with a BrightDrive system, increasing x80 the standard IOPS performance.

Bright Systems new GigE Expander provides a BrightDrive system with an additional 4 Ethernet ports, resulting in a much increased capacity in terms of bandwidth for improved data throughput. A total of 8 GigE Expanders can be used with each BrightDrive system, providing an additional 32 Ethernet ports in total.

Bright Systems is also launching an updated range of DiskPacks at IBC 2006. Features include professional quality 4 Gb RoHS compliant enclosures and the latest BrightDrive disk technology with enterprise-class low latency drives for multi-stream real-time performance, and SATA for high speed loading, unloading and rendering. The new DiskPacks are fully screened using Bright Systems proprietary disk exercising software to pass Brights exceptionally tight tolerance levels. This rigorous testing procedure ensures all DiskPacks provide consistently reliable, stutter-free performance.

Visitors to the Bright Systems stand will see demonstrations of all new products as well as BrightDrives powerful media sharing capabilities across Ethernet and Fibre Channel networks as operators work on the same massive data files at the same time.  BrightDrive is designed specifically for DI and post applications, including: disk-to-disk grading, uncompressed SD/HD (444/422) collaborative editing and finishing, film scanning, dust bust/dirt removal and quality control, technical grading, VFX sequence playback, virtual ?film-out, conforming, color correction and mastering.

Bright Drive is available direct from Bright Systems and its international network of resellers. BrightDrive LAN Accelerator, GigE Expander and BrightDrive DiskPacks begin shipping September 2006.
