Brief: EZQuest Ships 40x12x48 CD-RW

EZQuest has started shipping new Boa drive for the Macintosh. Boa offers 40x write, 12x rewrite and 48x read speeds, allowing it to burn a standard CD in 1.85 minutes, according to the company. It can also rewrite an entire CD in 6.1 minutes.

The new FireWire-based Boa drive includes a 2 MB buffer and buffer underrun technology for dealing with underrun errors in fast-write modes. It has an 80 ms average access time with a data transfer rate of 19 MB per second.

The 40x Boa is housed in a light-gray case that is fully shielded with 0.6 metal. It comes ready to use and includes a built-in universal auto-switching power supply, a cable and software (Mac and PC burning software). It runs $269. For more information, visit
