Brief: Apple Leads in DVD Authoring

2 million DVD discs sold By Dave Nagel
Apple says it's leading the market in DVD authoring. The company has reported selling about 500,000 Macintosh computers equipped with SuperDrives (combination DVD-R and CD-RW drives) and more than 2 million blank DVD-R discs sold under the Apple brand.

All of Apple's SuperDrive-equipped models have included free DVD authoring software in the form of iDVD or iDVD 2. The company started selling its SuperDrive Macs with iDVD back in January 2001, the same time the company launched its professional-level DVD authoring suite, DVD Studio Pro. Apple has not released sales figures on DVD Studio Pro.
