Brief: Apple Gives Away Jaguar to Educators

Offer available through Dec. 31 By Dave Nagel
Apple says it's giving away free versions of Mac OS X 10.2 to all U.S. educators who teach kindergarden through 12th grade. The free version is apparently identical to the full retail version of the package and also includes a training CD. It's available now.

According to Apple, the free version for educators includes Mac OS X 10.2, Classic support and a training CD called "Getting Started with Mac OS X." Mac OS X 10.2 requires 128 MB of RAM and supports eMacs, iMacs, iBooks, PowerBooks introduced after May 1998, Power Mac G3s and Power Mac G4s. Qualifying educators will receive the package without any cost, including shipping and handling. The deal is good through Dec. 31. Those interested in the offer need to qualify through http://www.apple.com.
