Compositing and effects suite gets OpenGL hardware acceleration By Dave Nagel
Boris FX today officially released Boris RED 3GL, a major upgrade to the company's titling, effects, compositing and 3D suite. The new version gains OpenGL hardware acceleration and a wide range of new effects, creative controls and functionality. It's available now for Mac OS X and Windows.

RED 3GL integrates with non-linear editing systems to provide tools for 3D, compositing, effects and titling. It includes more than 1,000 preset effects, motion tracking, image stabilization, extrusion capabilities for EPS files, time manipulation, vector titling, rotoscoping, animated text on a path and other features. The new version gains OpenGL hardware acceleration, faster rendering, new hardware and software integration, optical flow technology, 40 new filters, an expanded 3D effects environment, animated 2D and 3D charts, enhanced title animation, direct placement and editing of titles on video and workflow enhancements.

RED 3GL is available now for Mac OS X and Windows for $1,595. Upgrades from previous versions of RED run $295, while upgrades from Boris FX, Graffiti and Continuum Complete run $799. For more information, visit
