Boopsie Expands Its Academic Library Business and Launches Solution for Law Firm Libraries with New Hire(April 21, 2014)
Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) April 21, 2014
Boopsie Inc., is building its academic library app team and expanding its mobile Platform-as-a-Service solution for libraries to include law firms and law libraries with the recent hire of Megan Vizzini. As Senior Account Manager, Megan will be focused on leading the teams in the Academic and Law Firm library markets. She will manage Boopsies current library-customers in these industries as well as work with new libraries and partners to expand Boopsie's platform and content to meet libraries' needs to keep up with the rapidly changing technology landscape.
Megan has many years of experience in the academic and legal industries, print and e-publications, customer service, and marketing, says Tony Medrano, Boopsies CEO. Her unique combination of academic experiences and her customer-facing and leadership skills make her an ideal fit for our team. Megan has a BA from UC Santa Cruz, and a JD from Santa Clara University School of Law. She also has hands-on experience at Thomson Reuters, Westlaw and two Silicon Valley based law firms.
Strengthening Mobile Solutions for Academic Libraries
Boopsie has been active in providing mobile apps for academic libraries since 2010, and has many academic library-customers worldwide, including Brown University, Middlesex University in London, and the University of Gent in Belgium.
Students today depend on mobile apps for their education and productivity, and they need easy-to-use 24/7 mobile access to their libraries' services, states Megan. While taking a full course load and being a leader on campus, I juggled two part-time jobs, so I can empathize with students who are juggling multiple priorities and are constantly on the go. Boopsie's mobile app solution helps libraries reach and better engage students with library resources and the university during a critical period of intellectual and professional development. I am excited to strengthen our reach in the academic arena, and to help more libraries utilize custom-branded library apps to deliver their services on mobile devices.
Throughout her studies, Megan worked closely with librarians as she did many research-intensive projects. She gained insightful knowledge about both student and librarian perspectives in conducting research and accessing information, which she draws upon at Boopsie.
Nearly one-third of first-year college students drop out, says Tony Medrano, CEO, a successful graduate of four challenging academic institutions and former teacher. But, those who are engaged with their campus library are more likely to be successful. Boopsies academic library team, under Megans leadership, is expanding its focus and helping libraries retain students by delivering library services to any type of smartphone or tablet that the student uses.
Expansion into Law Firms
A law school graduate, Megan has worked with several law firms and held senior editorial positions at one of the top intellectual property legal publications in the country as well as Thomson Reuters.
Megan is working with law firm libraries to increase both the use of their subscriptions and employee productivity. Boopsies device agnostic, custom-branded law firm library apps are a great asset for on-the-go attorneys and staff members who work in firms with BYOD (bring your own device) policies. Boopsie also integrates with existing single sign-on (SSO) identity and access management systems to authenticate users.
Boopsies mobile platform has great potential in the law firm library market, says Megan. Attorneys and staff are glued to their mobile devices, and law firms are not keeping up with their expectations for access to information- employees are wasting valuable billable hours. As of March 2014, mobile app usage accounted for 2 hours and 19 minutes per day of smartphone use (vs. only 22 minutes of time spent on mobile websites). Employees more efficiently access information when it is delivered to them via the in-app experiences they are accustomed to, and libraries are being forced to adapt to user demands for easy-to-use mobile apps.
Outside of her professional commitments, Megan is passionate about literacy and giving back to her community. She served as a volunteer tutor for Partners in Reading, an adult literacy program offered by the San Jose Public Library, and has organized events for non-profit organizations like Career Closet and Project Linus. She also mentors young professionals.
