Blue Whale Apps and The National Association for Child Development Release a Breakthrough Speech Therapy iPad Application Available Now On the App Store

  (April 05, 2012)

Wellington, FL (PRWEB) April 05, 2012

The National Association for Child Development and Blue Whale Web Solutions, Inc. announced today the release of a breakthrough Speech Therapy iPad Application aimed at assisting children and adults with speech practice exercises. The application, called Speech Therapy for Apraxia-- NACD Home Speech Therapist, is on sale and available now on the App Store for an introductory price of $4.99.

The Speech Therapy for Apraxia app is a fun, user-friendly app to practice basic speech sound (phoneme) production and motor planning for speech. It is a perfect tool for young children with articulation problems and for children with apraxia/dyspraxia. Adults wth apraxia can use the iPad application as well. This app is primarily for improving motor planning for speech and can be used by parents for practice at home or by a speech pathologist as part of a formal speech therapy program.

It was important to us to develop an app that parents can use at home for speech practice with their children but that is also an effective tool for therapists, said Lori Riggs, Speech-Language Pathologist at NACD. Because the emphasis is on the childs production, the parent or therapist should be an active participant in order to provide the user with feedback, reinforcement, and additional modeling. This app is not intended for independent use by the child/student.

Speech therapists can benefit from use of this app in formal therapy sessions as part of a comprehensive approach to articulation and motor planning. The iPad use in therapy sessions has proven to be quite beneficial, as clients respond positively to the iPad apps, especially children.

With the widespread adoption of the iPad, the medical community at large must continue to keep up with the rapid pace of mobile technology. The Speech Therapy for Apraxia app provides speech therapists and parents with another highly interactive tool that produces results, said Gregg Weiss, CEO of Blue Whale Web Apps, the iPad app development company responsible for developing the app.

The National Association for Child Development is a unique organization with a unique approach to brain growth and development. Founded in 1979 by Bob Doman, NACD has helped parents enhance the development and function of their children for over 30 years. In its work with tens of thousands of clients, NACD has developed an approach to human development, the achievement of human potential, and the remediation of developmental, educational, and neurological problems that is based upon the gestalt of the individual. The efficacy of NACD's Targeted Developmental Intervention has been demonstrated with individuals from infant to geriatric, whose function has ranged from comatose to gifted. It is from this background and experience that the NACD team of neurodevelopmentalists and therapists, including speech/language pathologists, has created the NACD Home Speech Therapist line of speech apps.
