Blackmagic Updates Kona SD SoftwareKona HD to follow after certification testing
The software update for the board includes new installers for running the Kona SD in various television standards, supporting both NTSC and PAL. According to Blackmagic, "this new option eliminates the problem where a system could startup in NTSC, but the user's PAL monitor could not view stable video from the incorrect video standard being output from the Kona. With unviewable video output, users could not see the Monitor setting control to set the video standard back to PAL."
The Kona SD is an uncompressed 10-bit PCI video card designed for editing and design on Mac OS X. Some features include:
- Real-time capture to Offline RT motion JPEG files for Apple Final Cut Pro;
- Six channels of 48/96 kHz AES/EBU digital audio with sample rate conversion on each input;
- Fully digital SDI connections;;
- Multi-format analog options;
- Software codec's for Mac OS X and Mac OS 9.
The Kona SD is available now for $3,295, and the Kona HD will retail at $10,995 and will be released after certification testing has been completed. All registered Kona SD users have been notified of the software update today. For more information, visit http://www.blackmagic-design.com or http://www.aja.com.
