Blackmagic Ships DeckLink 2

New capture board offers enhanced audio monitoring, S/PDIF out By Dave Nagel
Blackmagic Design has shipped a new version of DeckLink, the company's 10-bit video capture and editing board for the Mac. The DeckLink 2 offers the same features as its predecessor, but also adds enhanced audio monitoring and S/PDIF out. It's available now for Mac OS X.

The DeckLink 2 includes support for 10- and 8-bit capture and playback and features digital SMPTE-259 10-bit input and output, separate SDI video and S/PDIF audio monitor connections, internal SDI video synch generation, a DV bridge for editing and outputting DV-formatted video, deck control through an RS-422-compatible port and support for an extended desktop so that windows from any application can be played through a studio monitor.

For software, the DeckLink offers real-time color correction, dissolves and effects. It supports NTSC and PAL and includes a 64-bit RGB codec, as well as support for AJA, Pinnacle and Digital Voodoo codecs. In supported applications, it offers native YUV rendering, and it includes a universal Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and Windows codec.

The Blackmagic DeckLink 2 is available now for Mac OS X 10.2 for $995. For more information, visit
