Blackmagic Offers Deck Control Software

Beta version available now for DeckLink card By Dave Nagel
Blackmagic Design has released a beta version of its forthcoming Deck Control software. Deck Control is a utility to provide control over broadcast tape decks in conjunction with Blackmagic's DeckLink capture and editing board. The beta is available now for free for Mac OS X.

According to Blackmagic, "Deck Control will allow any users to capture and play back to any broadcast tape deck via RS422 serial control with frame-accurate precision." The software allows specific clips to be captured via the Blackmagic DeckLink card in uncompressed, 10-bit QuickTime format.

Deck Control is available now in beta form free for Mac OS X. It works with the Blackmagic DeckLink editing board, which runs $995. For more information, visit
