Blackmagic Design today announced a $1,000 U.S. price break on its DeckLink HD uncompressed 10 bit HDTV and NTSC/PAL video card. Normally sold at US $1,995 per card, this special pricing of US $995 will be offered from June 1st to June 30th, 2004.
?Blackmagic Design has always aimed to be very cost-conscious and sensitive to the needs of our customers, said Grant Petty, CEO, Blackmagic. ?While regularly set at a competitive price, this special offer of the DeckLink HD is aimed at continuing to tear down the artificial barriers that high-priced technology has placed in front of content creators. Great work should not be based on how much technology can be afforded, but on the creativity of individuals, and Blackmagic will continue to offer the best product on the market at price levels that anyone can afford.
Helping open the HD market for customers working in SDI formats but still needing to begin developing HD projects, the DeckLink HD has set the industry standard for price and performance in uncompressed video cards since its introduction in September of 2003. A fully digital uncompressed 10-bit HDTV and NTSC/PAL video card switching between standard definition and high definition video with ease, the DeckLink HD is designed to connect desktop computers to any SDI based broadcast digital deck, in either standard definition or high definition video.
HDTV formats support include 1080i/50, 1080i/29.97, 1080i/30 interlaced, 1080p/23.976, 1080p/24 progressive. Also supported is 720p formats, and other formats can be added because DeckLink HD firmware can be updated when new software updates are released on the Blackmagic Design web site. This allows DeckLink HD to keep compatibility with any changes in the HDTV standards over time.
