Combining talents around the country, Zoka has launched to provide original music for commercials, film and television projects with locations in Richmond, Charlottesville and Los Angeles. The new company is the joint effort of three talents - Bill Grishaw, Steve Van Dam and Craig Honeycutt. Grishaw was a founding partner in 804 Music and Rainmaker Recording & Creative and Van Dam and Honeycutt are the founding partners in the band Everything.

Prior to the official launch this week, the trio completed projects for The Martin Agency, Element 79 and HHNY for clients Miller Genuine Draft, Tropicana, Geico and Quiznos. These projects helped to fund the release of an album by artist TIana Hux via Honeycutt's label Sensei. The label is part of the overall structure, with Sensei artists of various genres in the offering.

Co-Founder Bill Grishaw says: "With 804 we experienced several creative achievements in our short lifespan. When we shut our doors, I was able to take from our successes and build on them drawing from that experience. With Zoka, we are focused the value of the music rather than the individual artist or band. We match the right artists with the right project and approach each project from a fresh perspective each time. Our music speaks for itself and to date our approach has created a positive experience for both the agency and our creatives."

Bill Grishaw is known for his ability to translate clients' concepts into projects with impact. Grishaw speaks the language of both the music artist and client and, as producer, guides each project from conception through completion. Via 804, the Grishaw created music for The Martin Agency, Element 79, Fallon, DDB Chicago. 804 was a managed coalition of pop and alternative composers, songwriters, DJs and bands that provided original music and licensed content from its library of signed and unsigned recording artists. One of the bands was Everything, connecting Grishaw to two of the band members Steve Van Dam (Guitar/Sax/Clarinet/Vocals) and Craig Honeycutt (Guitar/Lead Vocals).

Everything started touring full-time in 1992 mixing elements of funk, rock, ska, jazz, and Latin music to create a unique, lively sound. The album Super Natural, released in 1998, included the single "Hooch," which became a hit when it was featured on the soundtrack of the feature film The Waterboy.

Steve Van Dam is a multi-instrumentalist composer and arranger as well as a producer and engineer. His skills have been honed in a wide variety of projects from hard rock to children's music, and from country, to hip hop. Van Dam has produced in some of the East Coast's most well-known studios such as Cue, Bias, Omega, Sound of Music and Haunted Hollow. He was nominated this past year for several Wammys including Producer of the Year, Best Instrumentalist, and Best Pop/Rock Album.

Craig Honeycutt is a songwriter, producer and engineer. As the lead vocalist and songwriter for the band Everything, he has sung with the likes of Dave Matthews, Darrius Rucker and Joan Osborne. He is a skilled craftsman of hooks and melodies, bringing over 13 years of songwriting experience to the table. Forever in love with creating cutting edge sounds, Honeycutt has become immersed over the past several years in the production of international Dance music.

"I am excited about this new partnership at Zoka," says Craig Honeycutt. "After being in the record business for so many years, and watching the landscape change, I wanted to find out creative ways to develop talent and release music. Bill Grishaw pointed out that we could bring a really strong talent base to the table and offer commercial clients something unique. In return, it is exciting to apply some funding towards album production and distribution. I have found the give and take to be very rewarding and original."
