Bill Baker Joins Simba Technologies' Advisory Board(March 22, 2011)
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/22/11 -- Simba Technologies Inc., industry's choice for standards-based relational and multi-dimensional data connectivity, announced today that Bill Baker has joined its Advisory Board.
Mr. Baker brings over 30 years experience in Business Intelligence (BI) and data warehousing to the company's Advisory Board. More recently, Mr. Baker served as the Chief Technology Officer of Visible Technologies, Inc., which produces software to measure and analyze brand perceptions and performance in social media.
Mr. Baker spent more than twelve years at Microsoft where he started and grew the BI team within Microsoft's SQL Server Business Intelligent Unit and served as General Manager of BI applications for the Microsoft Office Business Platform. During his tenure, Mr. Baker and his team delivered three releases of Microsoft Analysis Services, Reporting Services, Integration Services and the SQL Server Management Studio. He also managed product development for BI applications such as Microsoft PerformancePoint Server 2007. He was subsequently named a Microsoft Distinguished Engineer, an acknowledgement bestowed by Microsoft to technical contributors whose high level of performance, technical vision, expertise and world-class leadership are instrumental in developing and driving products and standards for Microsoft and the technology industry.
Mr. Baker was a key driver at Microsoft pushing interoperability. He was an important contributor to Microsoft's efforts to cofound the XMLA Council with Hyperion Solutions and SAS, involving all major players in the industry - including SAP, Business Objects, Cognos, MicroStrategy and others - that helped forge a great relationship between Microsoft and the entire BI ecosystem.
Prior to Microsoft, Mr. Baker was Vice President of Express Product Development at Oracle Corporation. Oracle Express was the precursor of Oracle Database's OLAP Option today. Oracle acquired the Express product through its acquisition of IRI Software, where Mr. Baker held the position of Senior Vice President responsible for Express multi-dimensional database development.
