Big Machine Design is ?Wickedly Perfect for CBSCompletes main title open and show design package for new reality series (January 20, 2005)
Big Machine Design (BMD), a full-service creative services studio based in Hollywood, has just completed a 45-second main title open along with an entire show design package for CBS TVs new reality series ?Wickedly Perfect. The show package includes all in-show graphics, bumps, transitions, and lower thirds. The announcement was made by BMD co-founders Steve Petersen and Ken Carlson.
?Wickedly Perfect follows 12 contestants in their quest to become Americas next great stylemaker. The show, which is being produced by LMNO Productions, premieres on CBS TV on Thursday, Jan. 6th, during ?Survivors previously-held time slot. ?Wickedly Perfect (along with recent design work for the ABC News program ?20/20) marks one of the highest profile projects with which Big Machine Design has been associated since the companys founding in 2003.
Bill Paolantonio, Executive VP, LMNO Productions, said, ?Big Machine Design did a really fine job for us, their graphics will enhance our show, and they completely executed their mission. Said Ed Horwitz, Head of Production, LMNO Productions, ?We selected Big Machine because they presented us with the most creative variety of design options, and made the most professional pitch presentation to us.
Mr. Petersen, Executive Producer of the design project, said, ?CBS wanted a rich, colorful presentation that showcased each of the contestants and their talents. Since the production had already wrapped, we didnt have access to any of the contestants. So we worked with LMNO Productions to find the best shots on tape and then designed the graphic environments around the shots we were given.
Added Mr. Carlson, who was the Creative Director for this project, ?We designed a 3D environment with elements from the show along with elements that we shot ourselves to create a lush and dimensional stage for the character introductions. The challenge was to create a show open that had aspects of refinement and class, mixed together with imagery depicting the fun of competition.
BMDs creative/production team for the ?Wickedly Perfect project was:
Executive Producer: Steve Petersen
Creative Director : Ken Carlson
Senior Designer: Jake Portman
Associate Producer: Elaina Porter
Additional Designers: Ming-shian Wang, Jessica Lopez
Hardware/software used by BMD for the project were Apple G5 Dual 2.5 Ghz machines, Cinema 4D, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe S.
