Nyko recently approached Big Machine Design with the need for a hip, 45-second spot to showcase a new product to be released for the Apple iPod. The Nyko Movie Player allows movies, video, and photos to be played back using the iPod as the storage device. The Movie Player consists of a 3.5 in TFT 65,000 color screen and a DVD-style control panel, which connects to the iPod to create a seamless playback device.
Nyko asked Big Machine Design to create a spot showing the features of the Movie Player and its everyday uses. Big Machine was unable to shoot the actual product or use actual people in the production of the promo spot, so the company created an entire 3D CGI environment, creating a virtual product and people, and giving the spot a special color and shading treatment.
Regarding the project, Susan Corben, Director of Marketing for Nyko Technologies, said, ?I wanted a promo video to show how the player worked, without being dry and technical. Big Machine was able to create a fun, stylish, and informative video that press, retailers, and consumers could relate to.
For the Nyko project, Big Machine Design used Cinema 4D and Adobe After Effects. The production credits for this project were:
