Beat the Traffic iPhone Application Now Available in Germany(April 13, 2011)

Starting today, German motorists can download Beat the Traffic for free on their iPhones, instantly view traffic conditions in their area on Beat the Traffics interactive maps, and adjust their travel plans accordingly saving time, fuel and frustration.
The Beat the Traffic iPhone app includes speeds, detailed accident reports and roadwork conditions in Bremen, Nuremberg, Frankfurt, Mannheim, Dusseldorf, Koln, Hamburg, and Dortmund. Coverage in other areas of Germany, in addition to Beat the Traffic apps for other mobile platforms in Germany, will be coming soon. The launch follows recent updates to Beat the Traffics iPhone, iPad and Android mobile apps, which now feature improved log-in stability, a metric system for international speeds, and smoother operability.
Traffic congestion is a significant issue in Germany due to its dense population, central location in Europe and growing use of motor vehicles. According to statistics from the Germany Federal Highway Research Institute, the total number of vehicles in Germany grew by nearly 200 percent between 1970 and 2009, while the countrys highway network (in total kilometers) grew by only 42 percent.
