Bay Area IT Consultants People 1st Weigh Pros and Cons of Upgrading to the iPad 2

  (April 05, 2011)

San Francisco, CA (Vocus/PRWEB) April 05, 2011

San Francisco Bay Area IT consultants People 1st have reviewed the enhanced features of the iPad 2 and offer advice for original iPad owners who are considering trading up as well as for people who are thinking about purchasing their first tablet device. In his review of an article by TechRepublic about the iPad 2, Matt Fabela, principal owner of People 1st, decides that the new iPad doesnt have enough new features to necessitate an upgrade for most people.

I bought an iPad for my wife this past Christmas, said Fabela. So when I heard Apple was introducing the iPad 2, I wondered if I had bought too soon - remember the iPhone 2? But the only differences I see are the camera features.

The iPad 2 is recommended for a few people. Those who have not yet purchased an iPad should go ahead and buy the iPad 2, since its priced the same as the original but has additional features. People who use video chat will be happy to know that the iPad 2 has video capabilities, allowing Skype and FaceTime users to talk on the device. And for people who need multimedia creation on the go (such as those who edit their music with GarageBand or podcasters), the iPad 2 has new multimedia apps that make it a device not just for consumption, but also for creation.

But for those who are satisfied with their original iPads, there is no urgent reason to trade up. In fact, it is recommended that people who are primarily looking for a reading device purchase a Kindle instead. Finally, people who are concerned about open sourcing will not be pleased with the high level of control Apple exercises over what is and is not allowed on the iPad 2. These people may want to stick with a laptop for now.

Fabela concludes, If you want to Skype and video conference, then upgrade. But if you got an iPad for reading, internet and email, then there is no need for an upgrade.
