Bauhaus Ships Mirage 1.0

Mac version set to arrive later this year By Dave Nagel
Bauhaus Software has started shipping Mirage 1.0. Mirage is an integrated paint, compositing and animation suite, previewed and released in beta form earlier this summer. The full version is available now for Windows, with the Mac OS X version slated for release later this year.

Mirage combines video and broadcast graphics, special effects, compositing, animation and painting capabilities into a single, unified environment designed to centralize the workflow for visual effects production. Mirage offers a wide range of production capabilities, including motion graphics, compositing, effects, animation and painting. It offers a large number of built-in effects, such as particles, flares, volumetric lighting, cloning, etc.; and real-time, 64-bit, sub-pixel-accurate video painting, which includes text and video tools, natural media emulation, animated brushes and other drawing and filling features. Other features include:

  • Infinite layer manipulation with color, luminance and difference keying (with color suppression), four-point tracking and two-point image stabilization;
  • A full-featured, layer-based animation system, including keyframing and motion paths;
  • A full complement of color correction tools, including HSV, LUTs, histogram and color-region-independent channel controls;
  • A scripting language and plugin API.

The full retail version of Mirage 1.0 is available now for Windows for $895. Those who purchased the pre-release version are eligible to receive both the Mac OS X and WIndows versions of the retail release. The Mac OS X version is expected to ship later this year. A demo version will be available Oct. 27. Upgrade pricing is available for users of NewTek Aura, Video Toaster and LightWave. For more information, visit http://www.bauhaussoftware.com.
