Baseline Development Group Selects ExtremeZ-IPGroup Logic's file sharing product replaces problematic MacServerIP (November 17, 2004)
Group Logic, developer of best-selling network workflow software products, announced today that Baseline Development Group, a premier full-service developer of instructional materials for the K-12 market, has decided to replace its current resource, MacServerIP, with Group Logic's award-winning ExtremeZ-IP product to manage the intense resource needs of its Macintosh users. The installation of ExtremeZ-IP has eliminated previous issues with server permissions and improved the workflow performance of Baseline's development team, while greatly reducing downtime and the need for administrative management of the technology.
"We'd gone through a pretty extensive migration to Windows 2000 and 2003 Server and were in position to either upgrade our version of MacServerIP or exit and move to another solution," explains Tom Ziegelbauer, Director of IT at Baseline Development Group. "ExtremeZ-IP offered the functionality we needed. We went from multiple problems with permissions to no problems with the Group Logic product," says Ziegelbauer. "It runs very smoothly."
ExtremeZ-IP's internal structure and advanced caching strategy gives customers immediate startup, higher availability and radically reduced memory usage over other products on the market. Through active-active clustering capabilities, customers have better control of node resources with configuration of multiple virtual servers on the Windows cluster. This translates into better network load balancing, improved uptime, and flexibility in failover options and functionality. "Since we put ExtremeZ-IP in place, we haven't had any issues," notes Ziegelbauer. "We installed it, turned it on, added users and we were up and running."
ExtremeZ-IP is used by thousands of customers worldwide who depend on reliable file sharing between their Mac desktops and Windows file servers. The product is the only solution on the market that fully integrates both Mac OS X and Mac OS 9 with Windows 2003/2000/NT Server versions as well as Windows 2003 Storage Server and Windows XP Professional. The newest version ExtremeZ-IP 4.0 provides stable and compatible Windows-based file and print server platforms for Mac OS X and Mac OS 9 users.
"There are no administrative hassles," explains Ziegelbauer. "Not having to baby-sit a product allows us to do things that we need to focus on during the day to make us more productive with technology, rather than having to kick-start software to keep it running. With ExtremeZ-IP, you set it and you forget it."
