Baraka Post Posts Elton John Documentary

Elton In Four Decades directed By Zimon Drake (February 09, 2005)

Baraka Post Production post produced the latest ninety-minute documentary about legend Elton John, entitled ?Elton in Four Decades directed by Zimon Drake from French Kiss Films and produced by Chiduve Ameke from WAB Management.

Zimon Drake and his crew filmed in the UK, and US cities, New York, Kentucky and Seattle. The film is made up of twelve mini documentaries, shot on Digi-Beta, with each section portraying the creation and history of a particular Elton John hit. The high profile documentary also features an in depth and frank overview from Sir Elton, the man himself, and truly rare interviews with Thom Bell, David La Chappelle, Sam Taylor Wood, Cameron Crowe and other figures who play major roles in the history of his songs. The film also features the promo relevant to that song and some wonderful montages of Sir Elton throughout the years singing his classics, cut together line by line, beat by beat.

Director, Zimon Drake at French Kiss Films explains: ?The brief was to produce an engaging and informative film with high quality visuals. Elton Johns management company, Twenty First Artist, supplied the intensive and expert research into the subject. We employed a simple, classical shooting style, making sure we used the resources and time we had to light beautifully and use plenty of depth. We used a fairly fast paced cut and tried to let the stories speak for themselves.

Senior On Line Editor, Nicki Lang, completed the special effects and online postproduction work at Baraka. Zimon Drake comments: ?The main work I did with Nicki at Baraka was on the grade. Through necessity I had had to use several different crews and shoot some PAL and some NTSC. Nicki Langs deep understanding of colour and skilful command of all the elements that comprise an image meant that we were soon able to achieve a beautiful look and consistent feel to some very diverse material. The sign-off process with someone as high profile as Sir Elton John is meticulous and I was grateful that Nickis talented and professional input helped me to achieve a very successful, punctual, result and within budget! The job was well done, and everybody was very happy!

The DVD has now sold 75,000 copies in its first month of release and ?Mojo music magazine awarded the DVD with 4/5 star rating.
