BWNs Chris Heidman Creates Music For X Box/Japan

Completes uber-cool spot for X Box?s video chat service in Japan (September 24, 2004)

Brahmstedt White Noises (BWN) Chris Heidman recently completed music for an uber-cool spot for X Boxs video chat service, airing exclusively in Japan where the service is offered. BWN was hired by Los Angeles-based production and animation company Logan and Executive Producer Kevin Shapiro who has a longtime relationship with BWN composer Chris Heidman (Heidman and Logan met when Heidman worked in the music industry). Logan developed and executed the creative on the project.

The track, which Heidman produced, existed on his hard drive at home. After being approached by Kevin Shapiro about the project, Heidman downloaded the rough cut and e-mailed the track for Logan to consider. Once approved, Heidman edited a few elements, adding beats to match the cuts and futuristic sounds to complement the tone of the project.

The spot opens with a constructed flyover shot of Japan, above grass-covered rooftops populated with young people and around a beach where vacationers enjoy high-tech video connections via X Boxs video chat. As the spot POV pulls back into space, it is revealed that the beach is actually atop a skyscraper a true future vision of contemporary life. The brightly colored landscape of the commercial bursts with fun activity and is supported with the playful music composed by Heidman.

?I like working with Logan because they produce great imagery and constantly want to break new ground, comments Heidman. ?They have really great taste and that's what counts, not the technology behind it. TV is full of visual clutter, but the Logan team seems to hold themselves to a higher standard so it is always exciting to work with them.
