BU to caution students about driving abroadBoston University to caution students about driving abroad after deadly crash
BOSTON (AP) ' Boston University will caution students about driving while studying abroad after a weekend crash in New Zealand that killed three students and injured five others.
School spokesman Colin Riley says officials discourage students against driving while studying internationally, but it isn't against policy.
He says officials review study abroad programs constantly, and don't anticipate changes after what he says was a terrible tragedy Saturday.
It happened when a minivan drifted to the side of the road, then rolled as the student driver tried to correct course near the town of Taupo.
A New Zealand health official says student Meg Theriault, a junior from Massachusetts, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Riley says university officials believe two other injured students may get out of the hospital soon. Two others were discharged Saturday.
