BRANDNAME Signs Dave Moore As Executive Producer

Former head of production at Quiet Man joins VFX boutique (July 27, 2004)

Colin Stackpole, founder of BRANDNAME the talent-driven visual effects boutique which launched last fall, announced today that Dave Moore has signed on as executive producer. Moore, formerly head of production at Quiet Man, joins Discreet Flame artist Stackpole, 2D designer Pat Lavin and Flame artist/designer Marlin Lask, all of whom are alumni of Quiet Man.

?I worked with Colin at Quiet Man for about three years, says Moore who filled the role of producer there before being named head of production. He knew Lavin from his days at Quiet Man too, so when Stackpole and Lavin approached Moore about joining BRANDNAME, they were a force to be reckoned with. ?I couldnt turn them down, Moore laughs.

?Dave will be a very effective front man for BRANDNAME, says Stackpole. ?Hes well versed in this business, keeps an eye on the bottom line and has a great creative eye. Hes also a real people person with a terrific sense of humor -- and thats a definite asset in this industry. To be able to be smooth, funny and light in sessions, which can sometimes be pressure-filled, is a very important talent. When I did one of my first major jobs at Quiet Man -- a marathon 48-hour session -- Dave was right there in the trenches with me. Hes a guy who will hang with you through thick and thin.

Prior to Moores four-year tenure at Quiet Man he served six years at the celebrated broadcast design firm Pittard Sullivan. He started in the mailroom of the companys Los Angeles office and learned the ropes in Human Resources and Scheduling before being named Production Coordinator in the New York office, a position he filled for two years leaving just nine months before Pittard Sullivan closed its doors.

?BRANDNAME is my first opportunity to have a hand in the decision-making process, notes Moore. ?Since I worked my way up in the industry I know how it operates. I also know how to make people feel comfortable and confident theyre going to get what they want. BRANDNAMEs boutique size, team approach to visual problem solving and extensive client services form a solid foundation for my work here. Now, we just want more people to discover who we are.

Brandname has recently done finishing and effects for Weiden and Kennedy's ?24 to Live campaign for the NBA Finals and ABC and effects for Gillettes ?Young Guns campaign with BBDO. As well as NYSE and Snickers Marathon for BBDO. Capri Sun for FCB. Graphics for Sprint for Publicis and Hal Riney.

Stackpole spent six years as Flame artist and lead Inferno artist at Quiet Man before launching BRANDNAME last fall. He has created visual effects for a long roster of high-profile commercials, including an HD cinema and broadcast spot for ?Star Wars for Disneys inhouse Yellow Shoes Creative Group; Mercedess ?Reincarnation spot from ADP; Fox Sports ?Hail basketball spot from Cliff Freeman; and AT&Ts ?Gilligan from Ogilvy & Mather for broadcast and Jumbotron display during the 2002 Super Bowl.

Pat Lavins talents are the ideal complement to Stackpoles: Stylistically and aesthetically his skills as a graphics designer are essential to the mix. After two-and-a-half years in the motion graphics department at Quiet Man Lavin linked up with creative post boutique The Well where he was responsible for all graphics and animation for three years before joining BRANDNAME.

A gifted illustrator, Marlin Lask joined BRANDNAME after a lengthy stint designing on-air promos for Nickelodeon and MTV and working as a freelance effects compositor at such prestigious New York City facilities as Spontaneous Combustion and Manhattan Transfer. He had previously been night Flame artist at Quiet Man.

Moores old friends and new BRANDNAME colleagues are eager to put themselves in his hands. ?At BRANDNAME Dave is not a cog in the wheel, hes the tire, tread and all declares Stackpole. ?Hes responsible for running the show and further broadening our horizon. In the short time weve been in business BRANDNAME has not only built a strong reputation in the commercial arena, weve expanded into independent films and some music video work. Were counting on Dave to keep our forward momentum going.

BRANDNAMEs 2,500 square-foot facility in NYs Flatiron district is currently devoted to Flame and 2D graphics suites. Stackpole and Lasks Flame runs the latest v. 8.5 software for visual effects and finishing. Lavins 2D graphics suite features a Macintosh G4 running Adobe After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop.
