BBC to Provide Video Content to AOL for Broadband

Entertainment and educational programs provided from BBC Motion Gallery (October 04, 2004)

The BBC and AOL today announced an alliance, under which AOL for Broadband members will have online access to compelling entertainment and educational video programs from BBC's vast archive via BBC Motion Gallery.

AOL for Broadband members will have access to a broad selection of programs. The content includes a wide range of short programming (1-3 minutes) produced by BBC Motion Gallery, including collections of wild animal video footage, news and historical clips. The content will be available through AOL's Research & Learn channel, a comprehensive source for trusted brand name education resources for homework help and college prep as well as entertaining science, history and books content and community.

"A lot of BBC footage is licensed for more traditional uses documentaries and commercials perfect as stand-alone clips, and AOL for Broadband is a great platform on which to showcase them," said Jan Ross, Senior Vice President, BBC Motion Gallery.

Who made the fastest million in golfing history? What man-made structure can be seen from outer space? These questions and more are answered in this educational series.

"First Steps"
On land, above the ground and under water, this series explores the thrills and pitfalls of the first steps in the life of young animals, including elephants, orangutans, sea horses, lions, penguins and more.

"Wild Worlds"
These shorts feature uninhabited locales around the planet, revealing the breathtaking beauty and unclaimed life of the last outposts of the natural world.
