BBC Broadcast To Attend First PROMAX India

Jill Lindeman to host panel on "New Ways to Engage Your Viewers" (July 13, 2004)

BBC Broadcast, the BBC's creative agency, will attend the first-ever PROMAX India, including a panel session from Senior Account Director Jill Lindeman, who will introduce some of the latest television advertising and promotional techniques now being applied throughout North America and much of Europe. This session will be part of the two-day promotion and marketing conference to be held in Mumbai at the JW Marriott, July 19-20, 2004.

Titled "New Ways to Engage Your Viewers," Lindeman's panel session looks at the current state of television advertising and defines three areas" that are affecting viewers' behaviour: Compression, which reflects the overexposure of messages in the marketplace; Connectivity, which represents the varied methods by which people are accessing media - TV, web, mobile phones, etc.; and Control, which is reflective of the vast control audiences now have over their media -- a greater number of channels, digital video recorders, satellite offerings and internet.

Her panel session will include the latest in new and innovative concepts from around the world, demonstrating creative uses of technology and air time to advertise and promote. They include:

Product placement - Currently the rage in the USA, it features recognizable products prominently displayed, or often times, intricately involved in the programming.

Sponsorships and Advertiser-funded programming - Many large corporations have subsidized production costs - or in some cases developed from the ground up - programming which reflects the company's goals, and/or is designed with a company's demographics in mind.

Lower-third promotional platforms - Sometimes considered both a bane of television producers and boon to television executives, this promotional platform often involves the effective and often times very creative use of the lower third part of the screen.

Lindeman will offer some of the most creative examples of these new forms of advertising and promotion from around the world, in addition to investigating how the influx of personal video recorders (PVR) has affected marketers.
