Avid To Ship Free DV

NLE to support Mac OS X By Dave Nagel
Avid today announced Free DV, a new video editing system scheduled for release for both Macintosh and Windows. As the software's name implies, Free DV is free and targeted specifically toward DV editing. It's expected to ship in the second quarter.

Avid Free DV is a stripped-down version of other editing tools offered by Avid. According to the company, it offers a common interface with other Avid products but is limited to two video tracks, four audio tracks and basic trimming and editing functionality. It also supports up to two streams of real-time effects.
