Avid Establishes Broadcast Systems Center in Madison, Wisconsin(August 02, 2001)
Presently, Avid's Madison operation develops and supports the iNEWS newsroom computer system, the Media Browse video browse and shot-list system, and the iNEWS ControlAir production device automation system. One of the first projects of the new center will be to integrate the upcoming version of the AirSPACE video server, which includes significant features for "transfer while recording" and "play while transferring" in and out of Avid Unity(TM) for News, a shared storage workgroup solution.
"The consolidation will give our Madison team a unique ability to move solutions forward quickly, since much of their development work is centered on video server control and its integration with newsroom automation and news editing," said David Schleifer, director of Avid Broadcast. Schleifer also emphasized that the support personnel for the video server products will become part of the Avid Broadcast Customer Support team directed out of Madison, which will facilitate cross-training throughout the support organization.
"By making Madison our Broadcast Systems Center, we have taken strategic action to continue our concentrated commitment to broadcasters by optimizing the integration of our broadcast products and unifying support," added Schleifer.
