(PRWEB) February 27, 2014
Bobby Likis, automotive expert and car-talk host of nationally syndicated car-talk program "Bobby Likis Car Clinic," moderated the Renewable Fuels Association's 19th Annual National Ethanol Conference in Orlando, FL last week.
Likis anchored the "Engine Experts Talk Ethanol" discussion panel comprised of leading automotive, motorcycle, and light-duty engine specialists. The panel presented their experiences with ethanol in the lab, on the test track, and most important, in the real world.
Reflects Likis, "We focused on rising above the clamor and presenting verifiable facts regarding ethanol as it relates to engine performance and lack of engine damage." He adds, "If the session feedback is any indication, people are ready to exit the myth mill and get to the facts."
Dr. Andrew Randolph, Technical Director of Earnhardt Childress Racing (ECR), talked about ethanol in automotive engines and the seamless transition to E15 fuel in high-performance cars. ECR's engines powered places 1, 2, 3 and 4 in this year's Rolex 24 and 1 and 2 pole positions in the Daytona 500.
Brian West is the Deputy Director of Fuels, Engines and Emissions Research Center at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. West led portions of the Department of Energy's Intermediate Ethanol Blends Program, enabling the Environmental Protection Agency's approval of the waiver allowing E15 in 2001 and newer vehicles. West spoke about ethanol in light-duty engines.
Bryan O'Neill is an ASE-Certified Auto Service Consultant for award-winning automotive service shop and is the vice president of the Pensacola, FL chapter of the Iron Order Motorcycle Club, the largest traditional motorcycle club in the world. O'Neill talked about ethanol as it relates to two-wheeled vehicles.
Before passing the microphone to the distinguished panel, Likis shared his 43 years of automotive service shop experience and the lack of damage caused by ethanol after servicing and repairing over 200,000 vehicles.
