Autodesk Aquires AliasEnters into a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of Alias for $182 million in cash
During a press conference call and Webcast held today at 2:37 PT, Autodesk announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of Alias for $182 million in cash.
The deal is expected to be finalized within the next 4 to 6 months.
Company officials stated during the call that the deal combines the strengths, talent, marketing, support, and products from two strong companies with the end result a benefit for customers. Autodesk and Alias have products targeting the automotive, industrial design, visualization, film, entertainment, game development and broadcast markets and will work toward a tighter integration of their complimentary products. They will also work toward integrating product features across industry-specific products.
Doug Walker, President and CEO of Alias, will continue to assist in the integration of the two companies over the coming months after which time he will move on. Alias currently has over 600 employees, most of whom are expected to remain.
Autodesk officials also stated that they expect to maintain the Alias brand name on all Alias products.
