AutoLISP Tip

Group Code 10 of the Entity List By Jos van Doorn
Group code 10 in the entity list gives the primary point. That point is the starting point of a line, the center point of a circle, the insertion point of a block, etc.

But how is that point calculated?

That point is calculated from the 0,0 point of the World Coordinate System. Here's an example. This is the group code 10 of a line:

(10 100.0 150.0 0.0)

The starting point of the line is 100 screen units in the X-direction, 150 screen units in the Y-direction. and 0 screen units in the Z-direction.

OK. We now move the position of the UCS icon. What happens to the group code 10 of the line? Nothing. The group code 10 doesn't change.

Even better. We now draw a new line. We draw it over the existing line. How does the group code 10 of the new line look?

Exactly the same as the group code 10 of the first line. The point of the group code 10 is calculated as the one of the first line.
