AutoDesSys is pleased to announce the release of form.Z 5.5 in English. The localized versions will follow as soon as possible. A detailed list of features with explanations is attached.
This is not the first time you may be seeing the list of features in form.Z 5.5, but a few important additions deserve attention that were not mentioned in the original announcement and preview of version 5.5 which made the cut to be included in the release.
In the Plug-in area:
- Improvements in Sketch Rendering have added a new style that
includes lines and strokes
- STEP translator has added support of assemblies
Additional tools and features in the software:
- New view navigation via key and mouse shortcuts
- New Query Parameters tool
- New contextual menu.
- New Scenes palette.
- Improved API and script environment.
The other most significant features and enhancements are:
Bend Along Curve tool
This is a new modeling tool that bends an object along a curve, according to a variety of alignment options. A powerful tool for creating complex deformed shapes.
New DWG/DXF translator
A new plugin for DXF/DWG import and export based on the Open Design Alliance Direct DWG library. It adds support for the AutoCAD 2004 and 2006 formats, improves the transfer of smooth objects, and addresses a number of the limitations found in the legacy OpenDWG based translator.
Lightworks 7.5 - This is the latest version of Lightworks and includes a number of bug corrections and performance improvements. In addition, it adds the following new features to RenderZone and RadioZity:
- Support for password free Lightworks Archive files (LWA).\Support for Lightworks Image files (LWI).
- New surface style Zebra, useful for the evaluation of surface curvatures.
- New Fabric surface shader.
Network rendering with the Imager
The Imager can now be used to send batch renderings to the network rendering server. This improves workflow when a set of images need to be rendered frequently.
The Script Editor automatically generates script shells. A shell is a script that has all of the necessary elements and syntax for of a script, but no real functionality. This allows a script writer to fill in the desired functionality without being burdened with creating the entire script structure. This makes script writing easier and shortens development time.
form*Z 5.5 includes a number of new tools, interface enhancements, file translators and improved versions of smooth modeling, rendering and network rendering. The most impressive new modeling tool is Bend along Curve, which bends an object along any freely flowing 3D curve. For example, this operation can take a linear object like a pencil and give it the shape of a pretzel. Direct key and mouse driven navigation, scenes palette, and a contextual menu are the main interface improvements. A completely revised DWG/DXF translator now supports Autocad 2004 and 2006 files. LWA (LightWork Archive) files and their predefined material, originating from a variety of real life manufacturers, can now be imported and accessed by the rendering procedures. An improved version of the form*Z API includes new methods for automating script development making form*Z scripts easier to develop.
