Authorities ID mountain man suspect in burglariesUtah authorities identify 'armed and dangerous' mountain man sought in cabin burglaries
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) ' Authorities say they have identified a man sought for more than five years in dozens of cabin burglaries in the mountains of southern Utah.
In a statement Tuesday evening, the Iron County Sheriff's Office says tips from the public and forensic evidence have linked Troy James Knapp to the crimes.
Authorities say they have issued an arrest warrant for the 44-year-old man.
A telephone call to detectives was not immediately returned Tuesday evening.
They say Knapp is responsible for more than two dozen burglaries of mountain cabins across a huge swath of wilderness north of Zion National Park.
The suspect has been breaking into homes in winter, living in luxury off hot food, alcohol and coffee before stealing provisions and vanishing into the woods with guns and supplies.
