New driver supports FCP's RT Extreme By Dave Nagel
Aurora Video Systems has released a new driver for its IgniterX family of video capture and editing boards. The new 6.0.2 release adds support for Final Cut Pro 4. It's available now for Mac OS X.

The new driver adds support for the RT Extreme engine in Final Cut Pro 4, providing real-time effects and video streams. IgniterX features multiple codec support for all major formats. It also introduces a new 10-bit codec called eXtreme, designed to provide "maximum accuracy over standard 10-bit codecs for easier and highest quality compositing and rendering," according to Aurora. Other new features in the 6.0.2 update include:

  • Updated compatibility with third-party 2Vuy uncompressed codecs;
  • Addresses issue with lower field MJPEG-A renders that could cause a field reversal;
  • Improved compatibility with VirtuaVTR;
  • Fixes a problem that could cause an application to quit when making changes in the Codec Options panel.
