Aurora Launches Video Adapter Line

Diversity family includes distribution amplifier and converters By Dave Nagel
Aurora Video Systems, the maker of the Igniter and Pipe video editing boards for Mac OS X, today announced a new hardware line called Diversity. The new family includes a distribution amplifier and two compact component/SDI video converters.

Included in the lineup are a 10-bit SDI to YPrPb converter, a 10-bit YPrPb to SDI converter and a 10-bit SDI distribution amplifier. All of the units are standalone, DC-powered devices that measure 3" x 4" x 1". The two converters use 12-bit DACs and 12-bit ADCs for both NTSC and PAL SMPTE 259M 4:2:2. The SDI to YPrPb converter includes an auxiliary reclocked SDI output, and the YPrPb to SDI converter offers 16x oversampled inputs and includes two SDI outputs. The 10-bit SDI distribution amplifier provides one SDI input and four equalized SDI outputs.

Aurora has not announced pricing or availability for the new devices. (They were not listed in the company's online store at the time of this writing.) For more information, visit
