Aurora Feint Unveils OpenFeint: Studio at Casual Connect Seattle -- Industry's First Private Label Social Platform for Gaming Companies and PublishersTransGaming to Bring PuzzleQuest to OpenFeint and Build a Customized and Branded Gaming Community (July 21, 2009)
SEATTLE, WA and BURLINGAME, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 07/21/09 -- Aurora Feint Inc., developer of the award winning social RPG puzzle games for the iPhone(TM), unveiled OpenFeint: Studio today at the Casual Connect conference in Seattle. OpenFeint: Studio has been developed specifically for game development companies and publishers seeking a complete solution for deploying private clubs and communities for their mobile games. OpenFeint: Studio is easily customized and branded by any game studio or publisher, and will be hosted by Aurora Feint in a private cloud for each gaming community. This latest addition to the OpenFeint product line is based on the same platform as OpenFeint 2.0, the de-facto standard for indie developers.
Industry leading game developer and publisher TransGaming announced plans today to adopt OpenFeint: Studio and OpenFeint-enable one of the most popular puzzle games of all time: PuzzleQuest.
"TransGaming is excited to bring PuzzleQuest on iPhone into the OpenFeint community. OpenFeint's private label service allows us to offer a branded user experience while gaining access to a large gaming community on the iPhone," commented Vikas Gupta, CEO & President of TransGaming.
In an OpenFeint: Studio deployment, a customer could deploy multiple OpenFeint-enabled titles and users visible in leaderboards, lobbies and profiles would only be users entering from the company's OpenFeint-enabled titles. At the same time, users will be able to carry their unique OpenFeint identity and friends network seamlessly between the company's private network and the public OpenFeint Network which already has over 1M active users.
"Game development houses and publishers have a great incentive to work with OpenFeint over another studio or publisher they might otherwise compete with," said Peter Relan, founding investor in Aurora Feint who also serves as Executive Chairman. "It's a better structure for the booming iPhone games eco-system because OpenFeint is open, free and not controlled by any one studio or publisher like other platforms that have been announced recently. Plus, OpenFeint is available now, so there is no need to wait for futureware."
Pricing, Availability and Business Model
OpenFeint: Studio and Publisher is available immediately for no charge with no revenue share or hidden costs to customers with multiple titles. Interested customers can visit www.openfeint.com for more details and request an OpenFeint: Studio deployment immediately.
Aurora Feint intends to monetize OpenFeint: Studio using cross promotion affiliate fees, as companies use private networks to cross promote free and paid versions of the same games.
Once a paid game has reached its revenue potential within the private network, it can be moved to the public OpenFeint network in an instant, with the flip of a software switch, to further monetize a title through exposure to the bigger OpenFeint community of users.
Eros Resmini, previously a games industry executive from Hewlett Packard Personal Computer Group and Real Arcade, who is joining the company as VP of Business Development and Marketing to promote OpenFeint: Studio, said, "I'm excited to join Aurora Feint and bring the power of mobile social gaming through OpenFeint to our customers."
