Receives Two Patents Providing Exclusive Ownership of New Mobile Targeting Technology in the U.S. MarketNew Patents Further Expand Augme's Growing Mobile Marketing Intellectual Property Portfolio and Provide Another Barrier to Entry for Its Industry-Leading Mobile Marketing Business (November 11, 2011)
NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 11/11/11 -- Augme Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: AUGT) ("Augme") ("the Company"), a technology and services leader in interactive media marketing that offers the only patented and innovative end-to-end mobile marketing platform, today bolstered its intellectual property portfolio with the announcement that it has received Notices of Issuance from the United States Patent and Trademark Office ("USPTO") related to patent applications filed originally by JAGTAG, Inc. and acquired by Augme Technologies on July 24, 2011. These Notices of Issuance, which were received on November 9, 2011, provide another barrier to entry for the Company's leading mobile marketing business.
The first new patent to receive a Notice of Issuance from the USPTO is related to the patent application entitled "Apparatuses, Methods and Systems for Information Querying and Serving in a Virtual World Based on Profiles," USPTO Patent Number 8,069,168. Augme has pursued an aggressive first-to-market strategy regarding this type of in-game virtual mobile marketing and content delivery, as exhibited in its successful program with THQ/Homefront and Ubisoft involving in-store campaigns for the popular Michael Jackson Experience, Assassin's Creed, and Rocksmith video games. This issuing patent further establishes Augme as the owner of underlying technology that enables the implementation of mobile marketing solutions within virtual environments that are driven by Augme Technologies' flagship AD LIFE software-as-a-service ("SaaS") platform. The Company, which filed this application on September 28, 2007, believes the patent issuance will allow Augme to further establish its leadership position in the delivery of end-to-end mobile marketing technology and content targeting within virtual world environments.
The second issuing patent is entitled "Apparatuses, Methods and Systems for Information Querying and Serving on the Internet Based on Profiles," USPTO Patent Number 8,069,169. The Company filed this application on September 28, 2007, and the issuing claims detail the implementation of apparatuses, methods, and systems for information querying and serving on the mobile and consumer Internet based on profiles. Using this invention, information and/or advertisement providers are able to leverage profile information to deliver content to users of the mobile Internet based upon context, demographics, and behaviorally targeted parameters concerning the mobile Internet users. The invention will enhance the proprietary feature sets offered by the AD LIFE platform and the operations of recently-acquired Hipcricket which, according to the leading wireless research firm Frost and Sullivan, "has emerged as the preferred provider of high-impact mobile marketing solutions in the United States."
The two USPTO Notices of Issuance, both issuing on November 9, 2011, also include patent extension terms of 321 days for "Apparatuses, Methods and Systems for Information Querying and Serving in a Virtual World Based on Profiles" and, 383 days for "Apparatuses, Methods and Systems for Information Querying and Serving on the Internet Based on Profiles" and, thereby extending the terms of patent coverage to the year 2032.
